Green lentil, pancetta and pasta soup

Green lentil, pancetta and pasta soup

It is Italian in essence, adapted from one of my all time fave books, Nigellissima. It's also a great way to use up little packet-ends of pasta - we forever seem to have bags with 100g or so amounts in, which is little use to anyone really, until you make this beautiful soup. 250g small pasta, mixed up leftovers, or something like macaroni. Add the pasta and cook, uncovered, for about 10 minutes. 250g small pasta, mixed up leftovers, or something like macaroni

Second Helpings from Nigellissima

Pasta Risotto with Peas and Pancetta. On the Nigellissima Christmas Special the bit at the end shows Nigella with a fit of the giggles when making this, there is something comical about shaping it, I was giggling too

Lamb Ragu with Papperdelle Pasta

Lamb Ragu with Papperdelle Pasta

What a lovely change from the usual minced beef Ragu this meal from 'Nigellissima' was. Put a large pan of water on to boil for the pasta, and warm the garlic oil in a small, heavy-based pan that comes with a lid, and cook the spring onions, stirring for a minute or so

One of the books I was really looking forward to getting my hands one was Nigellissima. The first was a pasta dish which was perfectly nice but needed some tweaking (in my opinion)

Nigella's Pistachio Pesto

Nigella's Pistachio Pesto

So technically anything made in this manner would be a pesto - I had some pistachios I wanted to use up from this cake so when I came across a recipe for pistachio pesto in Nigella's Nigellissima, it seemed ideal

Lamb Ragu

However, in my frenzy to cook as much as possible from Nigellissima. Nigella always bangs on about these exciting types of pasta that I vow to get next time I'm near anywhere that sells such a thing but I always end up ordering online from Sainsburys, so instead of the mafaldine or pappardelle that the recipe requires, I used good old tagliatelle and it worked just fine
